The Theory
The theory is that when you freeze metal it becomes brittle enough to break easily. We’re going to try this by aerosol freezing a bike lock made of heat-treated hardened steel. Will it break?
Hard But Brittle
Hardening is a metal treatment that makes things tougher to cut, but more brittle. Will that work in our favor?
Freezing the Metal
Our bike lock is coated with plastic which we’re going to shave off, then we’ll spray on Super Cold to see if we can get the metal frozen.
The Lock Holds Tough
The lock didn’t break, so it looks like the idea that an aerosol spray can make steel brittle enough to shatter when hit with a hammer just doesn’t hold true.
First of all John, use Liquid Nitrogen. Next get a ball peen hammer. Freeze the lock, not the hardened steel. Hit frozen lock with ball peen hammer. Remove busted lock. Enjoy your new bike. Watch out for cops.
Enjoyable and well presented again JohnJohn 🙂
Thumbs up…
