XtremeMac Raises the Bar on Desktop and Mobile Audio with Tango Bar, Luna Voyager II, Soma Travel and Soma Stand

September 5, 2011 by Andy Martin

Tango Bar, Luna Voyager II, Soma Stand, and Soma Travel

XtremeMac has always been one of my favorite companies when looking for accessories for an iPod, iPhone, or iPad. My love for them goes back to my very first iPod, the “gumstick” iPod shuffle. Well, they are raising the bar and about to raid my wallet again with these four new audio solutions announced last week at IFA 2011 in Berlin for the desktop, nightstand, and anywhere else you take your music.

Looks perfect under an iMac or Cinema Display

The Tango Bar looks like a home-theater soundbar for your iMac, in essence. A single USB connection provides power and audio to the soundbar, connecting to any Mac or PC. The 10-watt speaker comes loaded with dual dome tweeters, midrange/bass drivers, and passive radiators to provide best in class audio. With a headphone output, a line-in jack, and a port for an optional sub connection, this should deliver better sound than most laptop and desktop speakers. Aesthetically, it was designed to go under the iMac or Cinema Display, and I can’t wait to hear how this improves the audio. My Cinema Display sounds decent, but this would blow it out of the water, I’m sure.

Low profile and case friendly

The Luna Voyager II is a low-profile dual alarm clock and personal audio system for iPod, iPhone, or iPad. This case-friendly dock (VERY excited about that, not many docks are case-friendly) also works with the free Luna Voyager App to allow for dual independent alarms and the ability to wake to iTunes audio (on your iOS device of choice), FM radio, or buzzer. This would be a nice replacement for my old CD clock radio we still use.

Legs with ported speakers extend for stability

The Soma Stand is a very innovative dock and speaker combo you can take with you. The “fold and go” portable design holds the ported speakers in the legs, which expand for stability and provide a true stereo experience. Compatible with iPhone, iPod, and iPad, it gives up to 6 hours of playtime under battery power while on the go, or use the AC adapter when you can plug into the grid.

Big sound in a small portable package

The Soma Travel doesn’t need any batteries or AC power – it runs straight from your docked Apple Device! It’s small, but delivers a mighty punch and big stereo sound anytime and anywhere. It has a push-in/push-out case-friendly dock (there’s that case-friendly thing again) and swing-out legs when you need that extra stability.

The Tango Bar, Luna Voyager II, Soma Stand, and Soma Travel will all be available in October at XtremeMac and other retailers worldwide.
