It’s time for another update to bring you guys current on all the happenings at the Geek House. So, Cali and I both grabbed cameras and shot each other (you knew it would come to this, didn’t you?).
The Hopper Channel on Our Samsung Curved Screen TV
First up, we couldn’t help but notice that someone keeps setting our Samsung curved screen TV to play our Hopper tutorials on the Dish Network. Who keeps doing that?
Check Out Our New Time Clock!
We are nothing if not citizens of the bleeding edge, and to drive that fact home, we’ve mounted the old time clock, which we found stashed away in a closet, on the wall of the Lounge.
The Geek House Wall of Fame
We told you, back before the Geek House opened, that we would be making the Wall of Fame into a dimensional piece of art to always honor the people who made special contributions to the Geek House. Well, I’ve not gotten this together as fast as I’d planned, but things are moving now and we wanted to share what we have going.
Contributions to the Signature Wall
When you visit the Geek House, you MUST sign our wall. It’s a law. Ask anyone. We love seeing the names of everyone who’s visited us, so make sure you sign in!
UpDesk Central is Full of Truss Pieces!
Things are a little untidy in UpDesk Central right now, because we’re getting ready for CES, and that means we’re going to build our entire truss system before packing it up in a truck and driving it to Las Vegas in January. We also have a special custom-made ring truss that we’ll be mounting on one of the columns in UpDesk Central to help with camera work when we have events here. Remember, you can keep an eye on everything that’s going on as we do it by watching our DropCams.
My Office is Neat and Clean, Cali’s is… Not So Much
I have to point out how much neater my office is than Cali’s. Can you all see that? I just want you all to recognize the effort I’m putting in… that apparently she isn’t. Onward!
The Many Screens of Dave Curlee
Dave Curlee has no fewer than four screens mounted at his work station. So how many of those does he actually use in a day of editing? He gives us an explanation, and shamelessly lies to me, all at the same time.
A Wall of Green in the Studio
Dave was busy editing our Damson Audio video, and just down the hall we can see the studio, still set up from the shoot last week. If Dave decides we need to reshoot anything, we’ll be ready to do it. Hanging from the trussing are our new Manfrotto lights and down on the floor we’re using our new Manfrotto tripods.
A Travel Rig for Our TriCasters
We’re also very excited to try our TC2GO TriCaster travel rig from VideoLink. This will keep our gear well protected while we’re traveling, and when we get to the venue for CES, we can just open it up and everything will be ready to go.
